Ward

Three plans, with prices, and no way to pay one.

The free plan is not a trial and does not end. It needs a free account and no card, and it is what every installation falls back to.

Nothing on this site can take your money yet

Free works today and does not expire. Solo and Team cannot be bought: there is no payment processor behind this site, no checkout, and no card field on any page of it.

What that means for a plan you are already on, and where a limit is checked

Free

Available now

$0a month

No account needed, no connection needed, no expiry. The floor.

Five profiles is a working set, and nothing around them is cut down: every browser, every proxy, all fourteen identity surfaces, warm-up whenever you press it, and import and export. It is not a trial and it does not end.

$19a month

One operator, a working number of profiles, warm-up left running unattended.

One person with a hundred profiles and a schedule that keeps sitting on them while they are asleep.

Team

$59a month

Several people on one computer, and the shared library their settings are recorded in.

A room where more than one person signs in to the same installation and a profile has to move from one of them to another without a password moving with it.

A price is for one team for one month. Not per profile, not per person and not per computer: the people sharing a computer are counted by the seat limit, and the bill does not count them again.

These amounts are what the paid plans are intended to cost. Nobody has ever been charged one, nothing on this site can take one, and they may change before anything can be bought.

Side by side

The five limits, and the three tiers

Five limits is the whole list. Three of them are counted and two are switched on or off, and there is no sixth hiding in a footnote - what a plan does not appear to gate here, it does not gate.

Never behind a plan

What no plan gates, on any tier

Most of what Ward does costs the people who wrote it nothing at all, because it happens on your machine, on your disk, over your connection. Charging for it would mean inventing a cost to justify a charge, and you can see the profile directories on your own disk.

Which browser you launch

Chrome, Edge, Brave, Chromium and Firefox are already on your computer, or are portable builds you downloaded yourself. Refusing to start one would be a lock on your property rather than on anything Ward provides, so the engine catalogue has no plan check in it.

How many proxies you use

The proxy is your subscription with somebody else and the forwarding relay runs on your own loopback interface. Counting them would be charging you for your own purchase.

Bandwidth, and minutes

There is no traffic allowance and no automation-minutes allowance, because Ward measures neither. The relay forwards bytes it does not add up, and a number on a screen that nothing measures would be a figure invented to justify a charge.

How much of the device identity you control

All fourteen surfaces are yours to set on every plan, including the free one. A profile whose identity is half applied is not a cheaper profile, it is a broken one, and selling the other half would be selling the part of this product that has to be right for any of it to be worth having.

Driving Ward from your own scripts

The automation interface listens on your own computer and answers only to a token that computer holds. Nobody else carries a byte of it, so there is nothing for a plan to meter - and a tool that charges extra to be automated is charging you for the work you did.

Getting your profiles back out

Export is not a paid feature and never becomes one, and nothing in Ward deletes a profile directory. Your profiles are folders on a disk you own: you can copy them with the file manager, and no plan of ours is in a position to stop you.

Mechanics

How a plan reaches the application

Three decisions the design has already made. They are here because they are the part most pricing pages leave out, and because they decide what an outage, a lapse or a fortnight offline does to you.

The answer belongs to the workspace, not to your PC

A limit stored on the machine it limits is not a limit. Which plan a team is on is one row in the optional cloud, readable by that team and writable through no interface at all - not by the desktop application, and not by anybody signed in to it.

Asked in the background, never before the window opens

No startup path in Ward makes a network call a precondition of the window opening; that is an invariant of the product rather than a plan decision. The answer is kept with the time it is good for, at most a fortnight, and one that runs out and cannot be renewed is a downgrade to the free plan rather than a lockout. A computer that has never been online is on the free plan and opens normally.

Being over a limit stops the next one, and nothing else

Being over a limit refuses the profile you are about to make. Nothing in this design deletes, hides, archives, locks or refuses to launch one you already have, and there is no path anywhere in it that blocks an export. A lapsed plan indistinguishable from data loss would be the worst thing this product could do.

The small print

The same three facts, at length

Nothing here contradicts the cards above. It is the detail behind them, written out rather than summarised, because a pricing page that hides its qualifications is a pricing page you have to check.

You cannot buy anything here

Solo and Team cannot be bought today. There is no payment processor behind this site, no checkout and no card field on any page of it, so the amounts on the cards are what those plans are meant to cost rather than something anybody has been charged. When that changes, the free plan carries on working exactly as it does now and an account already signed in simply sees a different plan name - there is nothing to migrate and nothing to re-install.

No limit here is held by a server

No limit on this page is held by a server. Whatever Ward does about these numbers it does on your own computer, from an answer kept in your own data directory, which makes every one of them a rule the software follows rather than a lock on your property. This page cannot see which build you installed and never claims to: it says what the plans are, not what your copy is counting this afternoon. What no version of Ward does is take something away - being over a limit refuses the next profile and leaves every profile you already have, and every way of getting them out, untouched.

What the application itself says

Paid plans cannot be bought yet, so nothing here will take your money or ask for a card. What this shows is what each plan would include. Your profiles, your proxies and your settings stay on this computer either way, and the free plan keeps working with no account and no connection.

And an honest word about how strong these limits are

They are not a wall, and we would rather write that down than imply one. Ward is a program running on a computer you administer, and the plan it applies is an answer sitting in your own data directory. Checking with a workspace raises the bar - a plan has to be issued rather than asserted, it has to be re-confirmed within the fortnight, and no setting of your computer’s clock lengthens that - and a raised bar is what it is. Anyone determined can get past a check that runs on their own machine, and a page that told you otherwise would be the first untrue thing on this site.

Only one limit could ever be absolute, and it is the one with somebody else’s computer on the other end: a profile shared with your team is a row in a database you do not administer, and a database can decline. Everything else is on your side of the wire, which is also why the plans are priced as software rather than as capacity, and why nothing you do on your own machine is metered.

The same habit is why the fingerprinting page tells you what Ward cannot do to a browser it has not forked.

Start on the plan that exists

Download it and use it. The account is free and takes an email address and a password; it exists so a plan has somewhere to be recorded when there is a plan to record. Nothing you make in Ward is uploaded to it.
